VSY, wins the Environmental Protection Award 2013

Again this year Monaco, more specifically the Opera House, was the setting for the prestigious awards ceremony of the Showboats Design Awards. The coveted prize of the Golden Neptune, now in its fourth edition, has become a symbol of pride and distinction for professionals.
Stella Maris, a candidate among the excellence of international yachting, has
been awarded the Environmental Protection Award 2013. The prestigious award recognizes the shipyard’s committment to reducing the environmental footprint well beyond the minimum required levels of current international regulations. This is accomplished not only with its impressive construction and technology, but also through structured programs of integrated sustainability. The dynamic positioning system, the installation of the newest technology in partical filters for the maximum reduction of exhaust emissions and the biological treatment system for wastewater which can produce recycled water used for washing decks and/or discharge into the sea clean and odorless are a few of the reasons Stella Maris was so noted. In addition there is the catalytic converter for the main engines and the recovery and reuse of the heat generated by waste generators for the production of onboard hot water and heating and the heating of swimming pool water. Finally the wide use of recyclable materials and of energy-saving technologies throughout are just a few more of the eco-friendly solutions developed on Stella Maris. These ecological solutions and more won the attention of the jury, composed of a technical panel selected by RINA, and the award went to VSY.
